Islamabad is known for its lush gardens and public parks. With a huge number of small public parks in nearly all of the sectors, sometimes even Capital Development Authority finds it difficult to maintain the beauty of the parks.
When residents of Sector I-8 saw their beloved ‘Kachnar Park’ being ignored by the authorities, they came together to fix the day to day problems the park was facing.
One of which was lack of watering provided to trees and plantation inside the park. Instead of waiting for the authorities to take action, the residents came together, raised funds and built a custom watering tank.
The watering tank is now operated by an employee who waters the plants and trees on a daily basis and takes special care of the park to maintain its beauty.
But this isn’t the only step the residents of I-8 have taken to improve the park. They actively get together every week to collect scraps from the park and have also installed colorful bins that can be used to throw trash.
What the people have done for Kachnar park is nothing short of complete inspiration for others in the city. If more people stand up to take care of their public spaces, Islamabad will look even more beautiful than it already is.
